Help with Iceland Itinerary-one week-August
Dear Iceland Enthusiasts. I am trying to plan our trip to Iceland for the end of August and have done a lot of research so far. It is getting late and I haven't booked a thing yet! My husband and I and our two boys (ages 13 and 16) will be on the trip and we have decided to limit our travels to the eastern and southern regions of the country. I have come up withe following itinerary based on research on this forum and other blogs/websites hoping that we will have a wide range of experiences while limiting our driving time. I would love any input on the following:
Day 1- Arrive in Reykjavik and stay in Airbnb for 2 nights
Day 2- Golden Circle Tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides leaving from Reykjavik
Day 3-Drive to Skaftafell and explore area. Stay 2 nights in Fosshotel Nupa
Day 4-Glacial Tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides
Day 5-Drive to Vic and then on to Skogafoss/Eyjafjallajökull. Stay 2 nights at Hotel Skogafass
Day 6-tour?
Day 7- Arrive in Reykanes and explore area. Stay in Northern Lights Inn for one night
Day 8- Blue Lagoon. Fly home

Unless you are camping, you need to find accommodation first. That will drive your itinerary.
The other option is to stay all the time in Reykjavik where you have more hotel/vrbo/airb&b options, and do tours from there.
