This is the third time I have planned this trip to Spain but problems got in the way and we try, try again. All the hotels that I booked before and looked at in interest.
Alminar is booked, Musica is booked. We are travelling Sept. 24th and would like a very nice room. Is the Westin worth the money and would you stay in one of the basic rooms?
Any comments about Casa no. 7??? I know some hotels pop up and they do not get on websites for years until they build up a good reputation so if anyone knows of a nice hotel 200Eur and up?
Help! Seville is getting booked up already!

What about Amadeus? We liked it a lot.

Seville would be the 18th largest city in the US, so it's not a small town. There should be plenty of good hotels. Go to trip advisor and start searching.
We had the same problem and finally booked in Carmona, at Alcazar de la Reina (since Carmona's Parador was also fully booked). It was a hint of fate.
We found Carmona MUCH more charming than Sevilla and we loved the Alcazar. It is a short drive from Carmona into Sevilla, and Carmona is also a good base to drive to Cordoba (which we also prefered over Sevilla).

Seem to be some rooms here....

Musica de Sevilla and Amadeus have same ownership and are sister hotels. What about Casa del Maestro? And they also have suites del maestro which look great.
I could ot find their official website but I did not try very hard, sorry. http://www.innsofspain.com/hotels/seville/las-suites-del-maestro/
Casa del Laurel has pretty good reviews too. Then there's Casa de la Juderia where some friends stayed and they likes it very much, although it is said to be quirky.
Musica and Amadeus are booked except for some small rooms facing the street. I have sent a request to Casa de la Juderia so will see what they have. I should have been more specific that I wanted to be close to the cathedral within walking distance. I will find something for sure but was just wondering if something new had opened up that is not on tripadvisor, fodors, or frommers, etc.
Thank you all very much for your help.
Hotel Murillo or Apartamentos Murillo.
Here are 16 hotels for 200€ and up pr. night in the week following the 24th of September. Most of them are close to the cathedral. I guess Alfonso XIII is as good as it gets, but you would have plenty to choose from in this price range:

If hotels are getting booked up already, it most likely has to do with the Bienal de flamenco from September 15th to October 9th.
http://www.flamenco-world.com/noticias/bienal22032010.htm
Among many others, these artists will perform in the days following September 24th:
Estrella Morente (song): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u6NaSmjuaw
Concha Jareño (dance): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEgDKYSYqXY
Pastora Galván (dance): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gCAlpG8Dv4
Antonio “El Pipa” (dance): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE2zVd2Ayas
Tomatito (guitar): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_0qlx_E91A
Sorry, kimhe ... but I have the feeling that it is more probably the U2 concert than the Bienal. It happened to me two years ago at the end of October, I didn´t realize it was the last concert of Heroes del Silencio, and Sevilla was packed !
Anyway, I did manage to get a room at the Casas de la Juderia. More expensive than I had expected, but really lovely. I liked it a lot.
Rgds, Cova
He-he, you're probably right. The Bienal nevertheless draws some 50 000 spectators.
Fontecruz just opened a hotel In Sevilla and have a free breakfast special offer if you book by May 15

anav,
Fontecruz in Seville is already booked for the dates I need--September 24-27. Thanks anyway.
Did you try emailing them? I tried the dates and got available for a double.
anav - thanks for telling us about this new hotel. Great location and a very good chain of hotels.
we have an apartment booked in Seville during the Bienal and would very much like to get a "taste" of a good flamenco performance. How do we decide which performance to attend?
I am sorry to say I have not studied the programme yet, I won't be going (whaaaa!)but just a quick perusal for you
What you have to choose (if you can get tix) will range from cutting edge modern flamenco dance (Andres Marin & Israel Galvan & sister Pastora) to more traditional stuff ( La Moneta , Concha Jareño, Rafaela Carrasco) to superstar dancer companies of Eva Yerbabuena and Rocio Molina and Maria Pages which will have a little of everything.
I can tell you anything presented at the bienal is of the highest caliber, it just depends on your interests.
Some feature singers ( Poveda will surely already be sold out he is really a huge figure in today's flamenco as a singer and I personally also love Arcangel...another cantaor (singer)
Guitarists include the famous Tomatito and the ICONIC Paco de Lucia, possibly the most well know guitarists althiough there are many these two are recognized all over the world for over 20 years.
If you want to see a bit check out you tube ...although these programmes are usually premiere performances especially for the bienal.

the above are online magazines dedicated to flamenco that you can read....they all have highlights of the bienal and links to the offiicial website & programme.
Whoops Glory7 I just realized we hijacked this thread and it was Kakibell's about hotels in Sevilla. Why don't you start a new thread?
Sorry Kakibell.
So did you reserve a hotel?
Amsdon, my bad! I apologize also! I just saw this thread and got very excited that someone was talking about flamenco. We like to use apartments which are very reasonable. Would that be an alternative Kakibell? I can recommend companies that we used for Spain.
Thank you for the excellent into on the flamenco though. Will start a new thread.
Hi; Many rooms available. Key in the city and dates. You will also see ratings of the hotel on the 'booking' site. You could also check tripadvisor.com for ratings if you see a hotel you like. Richard booking.com/spain/
No problem on all the flamenco talk--I am excited that I will be in Seville while all this is going on. I got a room at Las Casas de la Juderia and one at Casa 7--both recommended by Maribel's Guides. Will have to decide between them at a later date. I wanted to stay at Hotel Alminar but it was booked and Hotel Amadeus as those were the only two I was familiar with but with some more research I found these two hotels and I think they will do just fine. If anyone has anything to say to help me choose between the two, then all comments appreciated.
Keep the flamenco talk going--i am sure we are all interested in hearing about it. How do you get tickets?
I would just recommend making a decision on the hotel quickly and cancelling at the hotel you will not be staying. This leaves the room available to fellow travelers (like you) who are searching for rooms. Also, in this economy in particular you don't want to cancel just before the trip and leave the room unsold - it's very hard on the hotel.
Hi; We have stayed in both the Alminar and Las Casas de la Juderia and liked both. However, you will find the Casas de la Juderia much more upscale if you decide to stay there. When we stayed at the Alminar, the wonderful woman at the desk, suggested and arranged for our tickets. We were right up front. Richard
Information and tickets for the Bienal de flamenco:

For the days 24-26 of September, I will first point to the cantaora/flamenco singer Estrella Morente in Teatro de la Meastranza on the 26th. She is extremely popular and tickets are already starting to sell out. I've seen her three times, and two of them were unforgettable. This will probably be one of the absolute highlights of the bienal.
If you want it raw, I recommend you to go and see "Mujerez" with the cantaoras Juana "La del Pipa", Dolores Agujetas and Tomasa Guerrero "La Macanita" in Teatro Lope de Vega on the 24th. The title is a mix of mujeres (women) and mu' jerez (very much Jerez), as these are perhaps the three most prominent living representatives of the great female flamenco song tradition from Jerez de la Frontera.
The bailaora Asunción Pérez "Choni" from Sevilla won the dance revalation prize at the lates bienal in 2008. She is dancing at Teatro Central on the 24th.
"Noche Flamenco. Extremadura" in Hotel Triana on the 25th at 23.30h might be the start of a long and unpredictable flamenco night. The atmosphere at the late night Hotel Triana concerts are said to be something special.
Tomatito is one of the greatest flamenco guitarists in the world. Used to play with the flamenco superstar of all times, the singer Camarón de la Isla who died at 41 in 1992. In Teatro de la Maestranza on the 25th.
Easy to book on-line, but I'm quite sure that the hotel will arrange tickets for you if you ask them.
