We will be traveling from Cairo to Turkey
we have only 5 days to spend there.
Can anyone suggest a tour company or sights we should try and see.
Hotels sugestions would be help full. 5*'s and great service are what we are looking for. Since we don't travel often and we like to do it up when we do.
Thanks
Bruce

Bruce,

I stayed at the Hyatt in Istanbul & it was beautiful - 5*, great service, huge bathroom - but if you're looking for "Turkish" it's pribably not the place. Across the street was the Intercontinental, which looked very nice also. I think it was located near Takism Square - not very central, but able to get around in short cab rides. The Blue Mosque, St. Sophia, Topkia Palace are all "must see". There are a couple of other places in the same area, but I cna't think of the names right now. Two to three days in Istanbul is plenty. If you can go to Ephesus (Kusadasi) on the way to Istanbul, it is well worth seeing.

Hope this helps...

Bruce

For luxury in Istanbul - The Ciragan Palace on the banks of the Bosphorous at www.ciragan.com - or to be in the midst of Sultanahmet - close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace try the Four Seasons at www.fourseasons.com/istanbul/index.html

Bruce,

I think it's probably best to fly. Maybe there are some tour buses though! For Ephesus, I think you can fly into either Izmir or Bodrum (about an hour flight). I haven't been to Izmir, but Bodrum was a pretty city on the water with great hospitality. From either, you drive - I think it's a couple of hrs. max. I know you can fly Istanbul/Bodrum or Istanbul/Izmir or Istanbul/Antalya on Turkish air. They have several flights daily. From Izmir you can fly to Antalya, but I'm not sure if you can fly there from Bodrum. Check there website - I think it's Turkishair.com

Good Luck - hope this helps!

My vote is for the Four Seasons in Istanbul for we love the location and millions turned the old prison into a beautiful hotel. The Sunday brunch is wonderful and highly recommended. We flew to Izmir and had a driver pick us up at the airport and take us to a resort hotel about 20 mins. from Ephesus. We had Pacha Tours arrange the 5 star resort hotel, the Princess, and the driver. You can contact them in the U.S. It is well worth the money to have a private driver for it was that or getting the bus to the town closest to the ruins.
