Heathrow to knightsbridge

Where we are staying in london, has told me that she can arrange a car to the flat from the airport for 65L.
There are 4 of us
Is this high
what are our other options?

That's what...£16.25 each (before tip!)...the Heathrow Express runs £14 a person and then you either have to tube or catch a cab from Paddington..

Now auite frankly the cheapest way is the tube..given the right set of circumstances the trip could be as little as £1/person or in the worst case scenario £4/person...but that means handling your own luggage and while the line that serves Heathrow goes right to Knightsbridge I don't know the location of your hotel with respect to the tube station in Knightsbridge...obviously the easiest is the car and I suppose if you don't know London too well it probably makes the most sense...of course after scouting out all the possibilities and the locations, you might opt for the tube to return to Heathrow...

We are staying on kinnerton street.
I am leaning towards using her car service as we will be tired after flying all night and this way the driver will know where the flat is located.
I wanted to know if this was a expensive rate .
Thanks

The charge of 65L is typical of a taxi or car-service from Heathrow to central London, and as xyz123 pointed out, it's quite reasonable when viewed on a per-person basis. I'm not quite sure how anyone could get a Tube into central London for 1L per person, but the Tube does go through Knightsbridge, though the stop may not be near your flat (i.e., you might have to change trains, which is a pain). If this is within your budget, then I'd say take this option, which works out to about $30 per person.

We did the trip from Trafalgar to LHR two days ago with a driver I have used before with a minvan and the cost was L52 and Trafalgar is probably an extra 10 minutes drive. Having said that, I think L65 is in the ballpark for commercial services.

If you're gong to be in London for a week, you might wish to purchase a 7 day zone 1 & 2 travelcard on oyster...it costs £22.20...the extension in this case to Heathrow is £1.80 on weekdays from 0700 to 1900 and £1 at other times...if you're going to get the 7 day pass, then in effect the trip from Heathrow to Knightsbridge under this scenario would indeed be £1 outside weekdays from 0700 to 1900 at which time it would be £1.80...also if you were on the day of arrival and/or departure to make other tube trips the difference between a one day zone 1 & 2 travelcard and a zone 1-6 one day non peak travelcard is not much than £1.50!

£65 would be typical for a taxi. But several car services would be £20 (or more) cheaper.

Check out justairports.com car service. £65 is awfully high. You certainly aren't getting any sort of bargain from the hotel/apartment. Just a black cab at the curb at LHR would cost about that much.

(If you pay cash the car services generally give you a discount)

Melissa, did you call for a price quote or did you use their online booking for the information? Thanks.

Personally I would rather arrange a limo myself from some reputable company. Janis has provided a link for one and you will find other recommendatons on this site.

Some hotels/restaurants use unofficial cab companies and I have been overcharged in the past and am concerned about insurance etc. I have discussed the issue with my regular limo company and am concerned enough to only use regulated limo companies and black cabs (never been ripped off, but you can definately do better $$$ wise with a private limo).

Also, with 4 people plus luggage, you wil probably need a van (people mover).

Last trip from Heathrow to Knightsbridge (6 weeks ago) was about 60 GBPs in a black cab, but that was high because the moterway was closed and we were diverted through smaller roads.

Paying in cash will get you the better price . . . . . whether you book on line or over the phone.

Melissa, curious to know if you received your confirmation for your car transportation within 24 hours from Just Airports?

Thanks.
