Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Imperiale on the Via Veneto, in Rome?

My travel agent booked the Hotel Imperiale in Rome and I can't seem to find any information on it. The location, near the Spanish Steps, sounds great. Would love to hear from someone who has stayed there?!! Thanks!

Stayed there a long time ago. Pretty dreary then. May have been rejuvenated since.

It's actually a bit from the Spanish Steps. Only a 10 minute walk, but doesn't really qualify as 'near', given the number of hotels that >are< near.

We enjoy the via Veneto area, so there's nothing wrong with that. If you want a 'near Piazza di Spagna' hotel, there are many better choices. Many quite recommendable hotels if you want to be up on the via Veneto.

Rome.Switzerland.Bavaria
www.twenj

Susan

Like Ed I too stayed there a long time ago and agree with his thoughts on the hotel. It seems though that it has recently been renovated and its location IS good. Some information can be found at:-

http://www.dilos.com/hotel/italy/imperiale_rome.html

Almost right next door to it is a smaller hotel called Alexandra. Avoid it at all costs.

Rob
Dear Susan,

My wife & I stayed there two years ago during a visit to Rome and Venice.

Although I wouldn't call the hotel spectacular, the rooms were spacious and clean, with good sized bathrooms. The hotel was undergoing some renovation when we were there - everything traditional style. The dining room was also old fashioned and the breakfasts were nothing special but adequate.
The hotel is in a quiet position on Via Veneto, about 10+ minutes to the Spanish Steps, and about the same down to Trevi Fountain. Piazza Navone is about 15+ minutes.
Enjoy you trip & best wishes from Scotland !

Thank you all very much for your replies. I haven't ruled it out, but am considering other possibilities!
