Getting from Prague airport without being ripped off

Hello Fodorites, I am wondering what we should do to get from Prague airport to Mala Strana without getting ripped off. I am very familiar with the excellent public transport but unfortunately it doesn't seem like a doable option for where our hotel is. We're staying in Kampa, right next to Charles Bridge. Which means, bus to Dejvicka, metro one stop to Malostranska, then tram to Malostranske Namesti, then walking almost 1km. We'll have bags so this seems like a hassle, especially since it will be summer time, cobble stone streets, crowds...

Does anyone know a non-rip off taxi or shuttle option? What should we expect to pay?

Thanks for any tips!

I use this company when i am in prague with large bags ,i usually just use publix transport when travelling light.
They are highly reliable, run by an American expat and his Czech wife.600kc is the going rate.

When in Prague i always called for a taxi, after being ripped off by several taxi drivers..
The best company that i found is AAA , their drivers always speak english, and they will also give you an official receipt.
I called them from the street, every time i needed a taxi, and i have never waited more than 5 min. ( i used my mobile phone of course)

Here is their website, where you can even calculate their exact price for a transfer from the airport to your hotel

You can also arrange for your hotel to have a car pick you up. The cost is not bad at all - we did that twice staying on Kampa, the first time there was no charge because we had reservations for 7 days. Otherwise I concur with AAA taxi.

Hi,
We will be in Prague in June and will need to take a taxi from our Mala Strana apt to the airport. The AAA taxi website states: Our cars run from 14.90 to 26.90 CZK per km.

How can I be sure I'm going to get the 14.90 rate and not the 26.90 rate.
Thanks

From AAA website:

<<Our cars run from 14.90 to 26.90 CZK per km.

Not all cars A A radiotaxi Co. offer the cheapest rate. Therefore, when ordering a car ask for the car CZK 14.90 per km or discount 47% . Will you parked the car, which will go to Prague for CZK 14.90 per km.>>

Below that is a tool that allows you to calculate the estimated fare. From the airport to Kampa, it calculated max fare approx. 485 CZK

BTW, I used Prague Airport Shuttle from the airport. Then used AAA when I needed a taxi in town.

I guess I just don't understand why that rate is not given to everybody. Why do you have to request it? It doesn't make sense to me. Oh well. I will take my chances I guess.

You will only get the discount if you use AAA from the airport - the driver will give you a discount voucher. You then need to call the telephone number on the voucher..
Otherwise you will not get a discount...normal cost from the airport to Mala Strana Kampa is circa 500 crowns.

Ok, so my rate would be the higher rate because I will only be using the taxi from Mala Strana to the airport. Got it.

Thanks for all these great tips! The hotel quotes us 600 so I guess AAA is the best bet!
