Arriving in paris on sunday am and first leg of our trip starts in bayeux. If i take the train to bayeux there are no car rentals there. I can go to caen to get a rental car but they are all closed on sundays ...what to do..drive from paris to bayeux ???

What company/broker are you renting from? There's at least one car rental outfit in Bayeux. Take the train to Bayeux and pick the car up Monday morning.

According to www.autoeurope.com, the rental office in/near Bayeux (technically in Vaucelles) is open on Sundays 8:00a-noon and 2:00-5:00p. However, I've learned you can't be sure of anything until you receive a rental confirmation for the exact days and times. If you have a hotel reservation in Bayeux, email the hotel and ask about car rentals on Sundays or other options.

If the Sunday rental pick-up doesn't work out, you could see the Bayeux Tapestry that day.

We rented a car at the Hertz location in Vaucelles last year and it worked just fine. For our arrival day in Bayeux we just took a taxi from the train station to our hotel. The next day when we needed the car we took a taxi from the hotel to the Hertz location and picked up the car.
