Further Q: Hotel Niza in relation to rest of San Sebastian + transport

I know that Hotel Niza is on La Concha, but am uncertain how La Concha relates to the rest of San Sebastian. We'll be on public transportation this go-round---am I correct that good restaurants and interesting parts of the city are more-or-less within easy walking distance for two middle-aged folks?

Secondly, what is the best public transport to get to S.S. from Bilbao---bus or train?

Gracias otra vez....
Diane

The Hotel Niza, if you check a map of San Sebastian, is in the center of the city, at least along the water, on La Concha Beach.

Forget the train, it takes forever. There is regular bus service between San Sebastian and Bilbao.

Have you read Maribel's Guide to the País Vasco, which includes San Sebastian-DonostiaÇ

As Robert2533 says, La Concha (the shell) beach is in the city center. Hotel Niza is right on the La Concha promenade. Five minutes walking to the Old town/Parte vieja, the city's most consentrated area of fabulous restaurants and pintxos bars.

There are direct buses to San Sebastián from Bilbao airport. Leaves every hour on "45". 75 mins to San Sebastián. 4 mins taxi ride from the bus staion on the outskirts of San Sebastián to Hotel Niza. There are also direct buses from central Bilbao to San Sebastián about every 30 mins. Both lines are operated by PESA bus company: http://www.pesa.net/pesa/horariosBD/...os.php?lang=en

About going for pintxos in San Sebastián:

This is the stuff that awaits you in the bars/restaurants:

Hotel Niza is right in the middle of this photo along the beach promenade. The parte vieja/Old town is at the foot of Mount Urgull a little to the left.
