Here are three web sites for searching for free concerts in Rome:

You have to be patient in searcing these sites, as they alternate between using English and Italian.
If you are willing to pay to see some opera, here is an opera company that performs in churches in Rome and Venice that is not too expensive:

Your best bet is definitely:

It has a google-style map with all the concerts everywhere in Rome, and a slider at the bottom to change the date.
The amount of concerts is incredible, there's practically 10 a day in Rome.
Also, I've seen some church concerts listed too!
