Formal Tours of the Marais paris

We are looking for a formal tour of the Marais section of Paris.....It looks like a wonderful area with amazing history. Has anyone taken such a tour or know of any? I did see one by someone called Matt Barrett who apparently has travel guides. Has anyone heard of him? Thanks so much...

I lived in the Marais and when visitors came to visit they always used Paris Walks and seemed to enjoy them. They have a couple Marais tours and are well priced

It is also nice that you don't have to reserve

I think Paris Walks is probably your best bet, unless you know French. I took one once but it was in French, there are all kinds of tours of various parts of Paris and difference neighborhoods offered by local guides who are registered with the city and the listings are in the weekly entertainment guides (Pariscope, etc.). They are usually around 10 euro, also. But they are in French. If you do know French, they are listed under "Conferences". There are always some of the Marais.

I've done a lot of Paris Walks tours (about a dozen) and they are informative but certainly not formal. The guides are certified, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. I've done one of the Marais walks and enjoyed it.

What kind of formal tour are you looking for?

What do you mean by "formal"? Are you looking for a group tour with a talking head guide or a one on one guide that is yours for the day? The Marais is wonderful and exploring it on foot with your own guide book can be fun. Also, reach out to Michael Osman at [email protected] . He may be able to provide you with a fun walk through the Marais

good question, I just presumed that meant a tour offered by a real company that had a specific itinerary, rather than some amateur just winging it.

Are you interested in anything in particular in the Marais district. We have scheduled a tour with a Jewish emphasis with Chantal Bilton for July. If you are interested I can give you her information which I also got from posters on the sight.
