Florence to the Almalfi Coast

Hi,
A few questions, as I'm not familiar at all with this part of Italy. My niece is studying in Florence. She'd like to get to and stay along the Almalfi coast from either 4/5 or 4/6 through 4/8. Going back to Florence on the 8th (Easter Sun.). Would appreciate how she and a friend would get there and back and any recommendations on where to stay. They don't have any preference on towns to stay in. Budget would be around or under 100 Euro/night for 2 people.

Thank you.

Paul

Paul, have them train as far Naples and then the local commuter train to Sorretno. At that budgerI would stay in Sorrento and have them bus to the AC or train to Pompeii.
Check out venere.com for budget hotels.

I have no personal experience, but I would think Easter week would be particularly popular. They may not be able to find lodging this late at that low a rate. If they can't find anything in Sorrento, have them look in Salerno. Some trains go direct from Florence to Salerno with no connections. They can bus to the AC towns from Salerno, but Pompeii and Capri would be less accessible.

Do they really have to be back on Sunday? Easter Monday is a major holiday and I doubt they would have class that day.

There is a hostel in Positano, but that might not be the location they want. What do the plan to do while on the coast?

Hi,

Yes, they do need to be back in Florence on Easter Sunday evening/night. Looking for someplace that's pretty central to some sights and other towns along the coast. I'll check to see what they have in mind as far as sightseeing in the area and post again. Thank you for the responses. The hostel in Positano looks very good. I'll get back with more info.

kybourbon...

They are just looking to see a town or two, some beaches and pretty much relax and take a break from school. No big sightseeing plans.
