Flat rental in Scotland.
Four women, all over 65 will be staying in Edinburg and Inverness. We plan to rent flats in each town for three to four nights. We will have a car.
We need four beds. We would like to have parking and wifi as amenities. I have found a number of flats on line. If you can recommend a particularly nice one suited to our needs, I would appreciate it. It would be fine to be in a nearby village rather than Inverness proper; however in Edinburgh, we do prefer to be in town.
Thank you.

I have rented from them. I rented their other place on Dublin St. They were great to work with and this is more money but has secured parking. The other flat was more suitable for 3.

For Edinburgh, you do not want a car while you are staying in the city. There is no reason to have one, and not needing parking will open up a LOT more possibilities.
I personally would NOT stay IN Inverness. Since you will have a car you can stay anywhere in the area and a cottage in a town or village w/i 15 miles of Inverness would be nicer than in the city itself.
What is your budget.

Our budget is up to $400 a night.. I have been to both cities before. We are using them as a base for visiting other places and we prefer to do that by car. If you have a great suggestion for the area near Inverness I would be interested in hearing about it. While I want to be in Edinburgh, I am more flexible about Inverness.

I agree -- you want to be in Edinburgh proper - but outside Inverness is better IMO.
You have a great budget -- more than I've ever spent for a self-catering place I'll have to do some checking. What month are you traveling?

oops -- meant to explain -- some cottages/flats 'up country' only allow short lets in the off/shoulder seasons.
But honestly - w/ your budget you could rent a place for a full week and only use it for 4 nights and still be well w/i your budget.

Just as an example: This place near Culloden is £600-£650 a week in high season -- so only $900-$950. If you only stayed 4 nights and ate the rest, you'd still only be paying a little over $200 a night for a nice 3 bdrm/2 bath house

This is just to illustrate what's possible

We are traveling in Sept.
I have found quite a few options on line and agree the possibilities are many including those which allow for three or four night rental. I have no problem with spending less than my maximum.
I hope to narrow my search with some personal recommendations of flats people rented.

Oh -- in September you won't have any problem getting a short let. I was thinking maybe you were traveling in summer. I've stayed in several very nice self catering places around Inverness -- but I'll have to look up some of my old files. I'm heading out for at least half the day but I'll post some more this evening. Hopefully someone else will chime in . . .
I also have some ideas for Edinburgh - but the car is a bit of an issue there.

I haven't stayed here but my Aunt/cousin did and loved the house.

While looking for that one I found this one the same site (Ecosse Unique is a very long standing/well known agency) http://www.uniquescotland.com/enrick/index.html It is at Drunnadrochit on Loch Ness)
I stayed at this place w/ 4 friends a few years ago. We were in the Coach house. It is a little remote - about 3 miles from the main road but gorgeous scenery all around. About half an hour from Inverness. http://aigas-holidays.co.uk/aigas-ho...accommodation/
This one is in Findhorn which is a really interesting village http://www.findhornholidaycottages.co.uk
