First timer! Trip to London over New Year's next year!

Hubs and I are throwing around the idea of doing New Year's in London for next year. Neither one of us have ever been to London - really planning on a quick 5 day trip. Any thoughts on itinerary? Things to definitely squeeze in?? Thanks!

Go to the Destinations section, top left of this page, and get some idea of what to do. You can't ask worthwhile questions without some knowledge to start with. One tip: At that (this) time of year it begins to get dark around 3 p.m which can affect your strolls.

But when it gets dark so early you can enjoy all the amazing lights! The Christmas lights will still be up.

You can see an example here in my London file

5 days will give you a great taste of London

I had recently gone to London for the 1st time, and had the most amazing support from Fodorites. For more great London tips and suggestions than you can ever use in one trip, see

Thanks! This gives me a great place to start! Its all just a huge blank canvas at this point - gets a little overwhelming.

I know what you mean, all the key destinations are fairly well known already / can be found in the links provided by kovsie.

Just make sure you have time to endulge in a visit to the plethora of shops and high-end boutiques located in the capital.

Have a good trip!
