First time Italy.
My wife and son are going to Italy as a High School graduation gift. They will be there 10-12 days beginning the end of June thru the first of July. Any and all help with an itinerary would be helpful. I know my son would like to get Rome in there.

Give us <u>something</u> to work w/ besides "<i>. . . son would like to get Rome in there</i>"
What research have you done so far? What sorts of things are they interested in? Have they bought tickets already? If not, open jaw in to one city and out of another might be best.
tell us more and we can help . . . . .

Hi
Well, people normally head for Venice, Rome and Florence to start with when they go to Italy. But yes, you should be a bit more concrete to what you want to see, where you want to go, what you are into.
Here is my trip report from Florence with pictures and links http://gardkarlsen.com/florence_italy_travelogue.htm and this is my Rome trip report http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm . Maybe that can give you an idea of what to expect
Regards

As Gard says, most people go to Rome, Florence and Venice for a first trip to Italy--and with good reason! Lots to do and lots to see, and, since they're big tourist cities, you can get by with a smattering of Italian phrases (please, thank you, etc.).
Start off with a general search on Italy and then narrow it down from there. After you have a more specific idea of where you want to go and what you want to do, search some more and then ask some more (more specific) questions. Travel books from your local library (even out-of-date tourist guides) are very helpful.

Hi P,
Go to the library and get some guide books to Italy.
Look up Italy under "Destinations".
See Helpful Information: Italy 2

When you have a draft itinerary, we shall be pleased to help you improve it.

My son and I are leaving this Saturday for a week in Rome, a combination of his H.S. graduation
and my birthday. This will be my fourth trip, and I still have not seen it all. We have scheduled a
tour of the Colosseum and Roman
Forum withttp://www.througheternity.com/h
They give an excellent tour of the
Vatican also. Aside from those two things, your wife and son might also
enjoy going to Pompeii. I'm sure you
will get a good guide book for Rome
and/or Italy which will describe this and how to get there from Rome,
it's very easy. My son saw the Vatican and Pompeii two summers ago,
and really enjoyed it. A mother/son
trip is very special I think.
Have fun, I know we will Genie
