Family hut to hut hiking
Hi,
We are planning a trip for August 2014 and would like to do a hut to hut hiking trip with our kids. They will be 4,6,8. We are not set on a particular country yet although are considering Switzerland and Austria. We can not do technical hikes but the kids can do a bit more than a meadow path. We are looking for a route that is picturesque, not too touristy and huts that serve meals. Smaller huts preferred. We would like to do about 4-5 nights.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

In Switzerland, the huts I know of, and the hikes linking them (see www.sac-cas.ch/huetten.html) are not for small children.
There is a fine network of hiking (some easy ones are more like strolling) paths called Wanderwege, well marked, usually beginning and ending at public transportation, but not with huts. See www.wandern.ch
In the Italian alps (Dolomiti) there might be something you can make work for you and yours with short legs - see http://www.sanvigilio.com/de/unterkü...iten/43-0.html (use Google Translate if you can't read German).

I haven't done it and can't advise, but here are some links that could be of interest:
Blog- someone who's done it with small children. http://momstotszurich.blogspot.com/2...with-kids.html
There's also a brochure here on family friendly huts- I only see it in German and French though: http://www.sac-cas.ch/huetten/huette...c-huetten.html

Hello, Did you end up taking this trip? We also want to do a hut to hut in Italy with our 5 and 8 year old. We are a pretty active family with good hiking experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
