Evening Trains in the Cinque Terre

Has anyone experience taking the late train (after 10pm)within the Cinque Terre? I am meeting a fellow Fodorite for dinner in Riomaggiore, and want to make sure I can get back to my B&B in Vernazza late evening. Do they often cancel these trains late season? Thanks.

Hi Gar,

www.trenitalia.com/en has the schedules.

The last one is at 00:29.

I checked for late October. It is still listed.

Hi, Ira!

I did check the schedules - I was just afraid they might "cancel" some of the late trains after the summer season. That would be a bummer. Planning on Sept. 28 or 29 rendez-vous with fellow Fodorite. Ciao!!

Gariem,

The train schedule is very unexpected in the cinqueterre, as sometimes they cancel some of the runs at the last minute.

Trains in Italy are not cancelled for lack of paying passengers. They will run empty if that is the case. They might be cancelled for very bad weather (mudslides, etc.). Of course, they are subject to cancellation due to strikes.

Gariem,

I only mentioned the above because of past experience in the cinqueterre. If they cancel one train, they will always be another coming in at a later time, as they run pretty often.
