Europeans and Priceline.com

Hi !

I'm going to NYC in three weeks, and have booked 3 nights (out of 5, have booked 2 nights conventionally at a different hotel) on Priceline.com.

My question is, that altough I got my bid accepted using an European credit card (I'm not from UK, so decided to use Priceline.com instead of Priceline.co.uk), and a modified address (followed the advice from Bidding for travel), will there be any trouble when checking in to a hotel, since I don't have an American address ?? As they will see I have a Priceline reservation, and I have an European address, is that going to cause any trouble ?

This is obviously my first time using Priceline, and I think it's a great thing to have. This is the only thing that bothers me. What are your experiences ?
Thank you in advance.

I just used Priceline for the NYC area last week. When you use Priceline you have prepaid but the hotel will have you fill out an information sheet and give them a credit card so they can charge anything else you might use such as phone, parking, room service. It shouldn't matter whether your address is US or not as long as you have an acceptable credit card.

I've used PL many times and have never been questioned about my address, nor asked to "fill out an information sheet." You will be asked to povide a cc for "incidentals," which in NYC will include a $2 per night extra fee, it's some new tax that isn't included in your PL bid.

Thank you for your replies ! Your responses put me at ease. I'm aware that I need to provide my CC information, that is no problem. I went to L.A + Las Vegas last december and had to show my credit card everywhere. On that trip booked the hotels via Expedia and Quikbook. This time couldn't resist the great deals that are possible with Priceline.

Sharion,

I live in Switzerland and have used priceline.com twice. Neither hotel mentioned anything - to them you have a prepaid reservation, end of story.

As mentioned by the previous posters, every hotel requires you to present a credit card at check in to cover the cost of any incidentals you may charge to the room. This does not have to be the same card you used to pay for your Priceline booking however.

Hope this helps,
Andre
