European destinations other than London -- carryon restrictions
I'll be flying from Kansas to Dulles to Amsterdam -- and then the reverse.
I've checked websites and read hundreds of posts here. My conclusion is:
I can definitely carry everything on in a roller -- including my ipod and camera -- because my ultimate destination is not the UK. I can do this for both legs (KC to Dulles; Dulles to Schipol).
I will not, however, be permitted liquids, gels, etc. that are specifically prohibited by TSA at any part of the trip.
I will buy shampoo and saline upon landing.
Does that sound like I've interpreted this correctly? MAny thanks in advance. I've enjoyed this Forum for years!

you got it prety close. You can also take electronics on board when flying into UK (with the exception of British Air), but you would not be able to do the same in reverse. At least for the moment.
I believe the carry on restriction from UK will be lifted soon.
btw, Brussels airport instituted almost as stringient policy as UK when flying into UK and US, and I believe Madrid did too, but on a less stringent scale.

From what I understand, you can take liquids and gels, as long as you check them as "hold" baggage. You just can't take them into the cabin. So, you may want to try that, and not have to buy new stuff when you arrive.

Hi Kit, I'm from Kansas City too. I heard on Meet the Press this a.m. that TSA will be adding some more (okay to take in your carry on) sometime today. I hope its saline spray and water, but I have a feeling it won't be. We have Amsterdam and parts of Germany scheduled for next summer. Hope you'll do a trip report on your return. Have fun and be safe.
