England to Bergen - What's the best way to do this?
I will be in London in January for a week or so and then will be heading to Bergen. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about how I could go about doing this relatively cheap? Thanks for the help!

Probably fly. There is a ferry from Newcastle to a city in Norway whose name I can't remember but by the time you train from London to Newcastle, spend 20+ hours on the ferry, and train to Bergen........I would fly, I think. Don't know for sure which airlines go there except there is an airline associated with Colorline Ferries (ColorAir, I think) that flies London to Norway, but not a direct flight to Bergen.

Hi Jeff,

The ferry from Newcastle goes directly to Bergen, so that would be an alternative.
Color Air does not excist anymore, but there is a cheap flight from Stanstead to Sandefjord (near Oslo), This flight is operated by Ryan Air. Then you would have to take the train from Oslo to Bergen.
Other airlines are Braathen and SAS, but they are more expensive, but can have special offers.
Kaja
