Any suggestions for one stop shopping in Paris where I can pick up a bunch of gifts for older relatives, colleagues, etc. for about $10-$15/person? I was thinking of buying nice lotion, bath products, candy, etc, just something to say that I thought of the person while away. Any suggestions as to a particular store in or near the 6e or better suggestions for presents would be appreciated. This is not the kind of shopping I enjoy so the easiest and most painless method would be great!

Mariage Frers on the Left Bank, teas, candles etc.<BR>The gift shop at the Musee D'Orsay<BR>All along the Blvd St Germain are small boutiques thatt sell lotions etc. Also, the pharmacies sell great bath products.

Not in the 6th, but if you are on the Champs Elysees or in the shopping center beneath the Louvre, stop in one of the Sephora stores. Huge selection of bath and body products for pick from.<BR>Back at home, a gift you can order for you Paris fanatic friends are sheets and pillowcases printed with the Paris metro map (useful, too--you can plan your metro trips in bed) from Garnet Hill (www.garnethill.com, click on the flannel bedding...it's the last item shown.<BR>BTilke

For one stop shopping for inexpensive gifts, hit the Monoprix at Rue de Rennes near Blvd St Germain. Look in the food section for mustards, jams, candies and spices. You'll also find lotion and bath products as well as small candles and Christmas decor.

Try L'Occitane en Provence. They have wonderful bath and home fragrance products for women and men. There are several stores in Paris and a real treat to the nose! You should be able to purchase products within the price range mentioned. www.loccitane.com

I the the Rennes Monoprix is a good suggestion. Although it's not in the 6th, I think you could do it all in a large souvenir shop just behind Notre Dame. There are several around there, but there is one in particular that is larger and has a wider variety of stuff--it's on the north side of the church along that street (rue du Cloitre Notre Dame, I think to the right of rue Massillon. It has things like nicely gift-wrapped Provencal soaps, nice wool berets, small reproductions of French folk art and paintings, etc. I bought several of the lavender soaps for gifts which were very nice. Oh, they have a lot of those little pill box/purse irror items you find in souvenir shops with nice French paintings on the cover as the art. Those make great small gifts for females.<BR><BR>I think those can be a little nicer for gifts than just something you take off the shelf at a pharmacy or Monoprix because they are wrapped nicely and decorative (ie, they won't look just like a scented bar of soap you'd buy in a grocery store). Aside from that, if you want to go with tea or candy or fool item products, you could just go shop at Hediard or Fauchon near place de la Madeleine.

Seconding L'Occitaine. And you can even order from their website and save carrying the products home with you! Just walking into the store is a sensory delight.

The only problem (if you could call it a problem) is that Sephoras are all over the US and so are L'Occitane stores. So if you want something just from Paris you will do better shopping in the Monoprix or the smaller stores along the Blvd St Germain.

All great suggestions. The vanilla pods from Mariages Freres are perfect stocking stuffers. Try to find miniature jars of exotic Maille mustards (best done in the Maille store in place de la Madeleine). Some discount towel/sheet store chains have cute little tea towels that look like a metro ticket.

I love the Monoprix on Rue de Rennes. We had a ball in the food court and bought all kinds of wonderful presents for people. Some of it didn't make it home because I became addicted to this special Christmas chocolate bar that had all kinds of spices and fruit in it. Plus, upstairs was lots of fun accessories and make-up.

thanks for all the suggestions, particulary Monoprix, Mariage Frere, Fragonard, etc. That is great to get stores we don't have in the US as there is a Sephora, L'occitaine and Olivers et. Co. within 2 blocks of my apartment. I guess I am lucky for that!

I love Roger &amp; Gallet soap products, in Europe it will be very reasonable. In the US its been hard to find and very expensive. They make great bar soaps and shower gels. Happy shopping.

I recommend the Bon Marche food hall. Its one of my favourite places to pick-up reasonably priced treats to take home to friends and family.<BR><BR>I have also enjoyed shopping for little gifts at Monoprix and the Maille shop.
