Dusseldorf to Paris
In order to join my husband who will be in Paris the 3rd through the 10th of September, I am flying on Delta FF miles to Dusseldorf.
Any suggestions on the best way to get to Paris from Dusseldorf? Plane? Train?

Eveningcrane,
Air Berlin flies cheaply right from Düsseldorf airport to Paris. Currently, the one-way fare for your dates is EUR 47 all in. If the flight times work out, this would be your best option, no need to switch airports.
Should you need to overnight and wish to take in some local sights, I would recommend Köln / Cologne over Düsseldorf: spectacular cathedral, world-class museums and several hotel options all located right by the main train station.
As both Air Berlin and Germanwings only sell one-way fares, you can take one airline to Paris and return with the other.
Both Düsseldorf and Cologne airports have train connections, so you can easily get from one airport to the other or to the centers of both cities.
From Dusseldorf airport, Cologne is about 40 minutes away, Dusseldorf is literally 5 minutes away. From Cologne airport, Cologne is 15 min away and Dusseldorf 40 min away (but the latter connection is only hourly and on more expensive Intercity Express trains). Getting from one airport to the other takes 50 min, again with hourly direct connections on Intercity Express trains.
Train schedules are available at:
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
Append "hbf" (Hauptbahnhof) to a city name to get schedules to/from that city's main station. For the airport stations, just use the 3 letter city code (DUS for Dusseldorf, CGN for Cologne). So for schedules from Cologne to Dusseldorf airport enter "Cologne HBF" in the "From" field and "DUS" in the "To" field.
Hope this helps,
Andre

Just checked the Delta schedules and assume you'll be taking DL 24/25 from/to Atlanta.
If so, good ole' Air France is probably your best bet if you want to maximize your time in Paris - they have very frequent service on the route and return fares to/from Dusseldorf for your dates start at EUR 121 all in. These flights are not bookable on Air France's US website, so either go to www.airfrance.de (german-language only) or give them a call. You can certainly use the German AF website, as they will issue you e-tickets, so no snail mail delivery required. You can also book these flights for USD 186.53 (about 15 USD more) on Expedia.
Lufthansa is even cheaper on the route at EUR 99 all in, however their schedules aren't as frequent or convenient for you.
If you want to maximize your time in Pars, I would recommend flying out to DUS on the evening of September 9th and staying near the airport, since your flight to ATL leaves early the next morning.
It would be easiest to just stay at the DUS airport Sheraton, from which you can simply walk to the check-in desk for your flight:

You could still go to the center of Dusseldorf for dinner (only a 5 min. train ride away).
Hope this helps,
Andre

Finally, scroll down to the bottom of this page for an excellent special at the DUS Sheraton:
http://specialoffers.starwoodhotels....dorf/local.htm
The "Endless Weekend" rate includes breakfast and a 24hr local public transit card so you can get to/from Dusseldorf, all for only EUR 108.
Hope this helps,
Andre
