Discussion: Amalfi Coast vs. Greek Isles
I saw a discussion on the forum on what would be a better choice - Amalfi Coast or French Riviera. I wanted to make it harder (?)
Which would you pick for a romatic getaway? The Amalfi Coast or the Greek Isles
As a side topic - have I really made it harder? Is the Greek Isles 'better/more romantic' than the Greek Isles.
Waiting to hear your opinions.
Thanks

The Amalfia Coast is better than the Greek Isles. Better thant the French Riviera. More romantic than either of those. The Greek Isles have their charms, but they are not as beautiful IMO as the Amalfi Coast. And the food in Italy is MUCH better!

The Greek Isles have no sophistication, they are somewhere sunny with blue skies and beaches, charm, local taverna style places, an handful of luxury hotels, a place to escape and not really do much else.
Quite how you can compare the Neapolitan Riviera - a chic, happening, busy mainland destination with some insignificant, albeit, rather pleasant and insignificant, islands to this destination astounds me. The two offer such different experiences that they are incomparable. Italy is more expensive, more beautiful in a built-up-kinda way, more sophisticated, more to do, more to see, more to travel etcetera etcetera.
Romantic, well if you think a place makes romance I despair. Romance is about people, passion and it shouldn't be about anything more. Yes, stunning scenery helps matter, but it's the people that make somewhere romantic. Don't be so naff with all this romance, I'm quite sure Sophia Loren/Cary Grant/Sinatra/Brigitte Bardot could make a rundown council flat in some insalubrious London estate romantic.
Italian riviera always, I go there every year either in spring or autumn (fall) and never fail to be impressed.
