Croacia to Venice
Hello, I am planning to take a ferry from Croatia to Venice in June. Any information on how to do this would be great. Also, is it even a good idea? Or should I fly instead?

We took the ferry from Rovinj, Croatia to Venice, Italy in June 2012. It was very easy! The ferry crossing took about 1 hour.
Here is a website that can help: http://www.venezialines.com/
Have fun!

1) Take a morning train from Zagreb to Ljubljana, around 18 euros, buy at the station. You can check times using the journey planner at www.bahn.de/en
2) Then take the 14:33 train from Ljubljana to Villa Opicina, fare 9 euros, buy at the station, no reservation necessary. Villa Opicina is just over the Italian border.
3) Bus or taxi 3.7 miles into central Trieste.
4) There are then regional trains every hour from Trieste to Venice Santa Lucia in central Venice, fare 12 euros, again no reservation necessary, just turn up, buy, hop on.
If this sounds complicated, it isn't - it's free and easy, cheap, nice scenery, it's relaxed, no reservations are necessary you just turn up, buy a ticket and hop on each train. Soooo simple!
See http://www.seat61.com/Slovenia.htm#L...Trieste-Venice for full details.
Frankly, both Ljubljana and Trieste are worth a longer stop, they're great cities!
