couple traveling to ITALY and GREECE
beginning to think about putting together a trip to ITALY and Greece in hopes to include both Culture and Romance.
We will have limited time. Thinking 4 mites in ROME that would include a day excursion to either Florence or Tuscany (guided). Then a flight to Santorini for a 4 nite stay. Any SUGGESTIONS FOR BEST DAY TOURS in both countries? We would love to do possibly a dinner/dance show while in Greece any input would be appreciated

What time of year are you planning to go?
Have you looked into flights from Rome to Santorini (not sure there are direct flights all year - you may have to change in Athens, making it a complicated/time-consuming process)
Frankly, I would just stay in Italy since it looks like you only have 3 days in each place, after you eliminate the various travel times.

Choose one country. Right now you are talking about having 4 nights is Rome (that is only 3 full days) and and taking a day trip one of those days. Bad idea if you actually want to see any of Rome. Likewise for Greece.

I think it is premature to look for tours before establishing where you can realistically visit.
Because you have not mentioned when you are traveling, it is not possible to tell you whether you can fly direct between Santorini and Rome on seasonal low cost carrier or you have to go to Athens to make a connections.
Also even if what you mentioned is possible, depending on where you are starting from, it is a more chore to come home from Santorini than from Rome.
And if you are looking for cultural performances beyond what are put together for cruise passengers in Greece, Athens is the place you find dance performances such as Dora Stratou dance Theatre in Athens, http://www.grdance.org/en/
And if your time is limited, it makes even more sense to stick to one country. They are "romantic" on their own ways. Athens+Santorini is possible as well as Rome+Florence, as well as Venice+Florence, Venice+Rome, or Amalfi Coast+Rome.

Santorini is very romantic and might be a good introduction to Greek Islands if its your first time, but in my opinion it's not the best. Have you considered pairing up another Greek Island with Santorini or is Athens a must?

Barb, you need to look at some maps or maybe a globe. I'm thinking you are from the US, and have not traveled to Europe before, and are indulging in some daydreams ... Daydreams are wonderful but are different from plans.
What if someone from Europe, say Italy, said we have 8 nites to visit the US. We are thinking New York (with day trip to Boston or Washington) and then fly to Key West for 4 days. Or Maybe Catalina Island.
A week in Italy is a much better bet. Also, if you tell where you'll be coming from and what month you're thinking about, people can give better advice.
