Corinthia Panorama Hotel - Prague

I've made reservations in the Corinthia Panorama Hotel which is in Prague East. Is it centrally located to most sights? If anyone has stayed in this Hotel please forward your comments.

Sorry, we have not stayed in this particular hotel, but we did stay a few days last month at its companion hotel, Corinthia Aquincum, in Budapest. If your hotel is half as nice as the Budapest place, you are in for a real treat. First class in every way. Have you checked their web site, by the way?

I just checked their web site; your hotel sits practically on top of a Prague subway stop, Pancrac, on the direct line (may 3 stops) to the Museum stop, which lies at the top of Wenceslaus Square. You are in a great location and the hotel appears to be equal to any with all the amenities one could wish. Great choice.

It is centrally located if you don't mind taking the metro, which is what you will have to do. This place is NOT in the historic district, but where the newer business buildings are. No doubt you will have state of the art facilities, but strolling back to the hotel at night will not be possible. Looks like a nice place, though.

We are leaving tomorrow and we have a reservation in this hotel. CH-Railtour offer an inexpensive rail/hotel package. I will write a post when we get back. I did speak to a friend who works in Prague during the week and lives here (near ZH) on weekends and he said he would opt for a hotel closer in town as a tourist. His recommendations were the Renaissance, Intercontential and the Palace.

We were supposed to stay there a few weeks ago, but we got their and they were overbooked. They sent us to the Corinthia Towers hotel. Don't get the two confused...Corinthia Towers is the one that is pretty much connected to the metro. Corinthia Panorama is about a block or two from the metro. If they offer to move you to the Towers, move. It was worth it!

The hotel is located at ca. 300M from the Metro. Takes at most 5 minutes to walk there at a stroll in heels. The rooms are fine, but ours had a connecting door so it was not terribly well sound proofed (we could hear the guy in the room next to us blow his nose). The hotel is quite far from the center and not in a very charming area. The metro stops running at around midnight or 1AM. We ended up having to catch a taxi back to the hotel from the opera/+ dinner at 1AM. Cost about 290K (look for AAA or profi taxis, they have a meter, with other taxis fix a price before leaving).
From Pankrac metro it takes about 15-20 minutes to get to Starometska, center of old town (change at Museum).

In my previous post, I mentioned a few hotels that a friend who works in Prague recommended. We walked past them and here are my impressions:
Intercontential, it didn't look so nice. Modern building near river but close to busy street. Rate offered was 219 Euro. The Palace is on a street with a tram running on the side, so could be noisy. I walked in a got a rate for a double room, 360.- Euro. The Renaissance looked ok, rack rate is 225 Euro.

We paid ca. 200 SFr (140 Euro) for the Cornthia Panorama and they gave us a superior room, so it was certainly a good deal (the metro day pass costs 80K, or 2-3 Euro), however, I just checked their rate on net and it is 205 Euro.
If your budget allows it I would recommend staying downtown.
