Copenhagen to Stockholm
I am looking to do Copenhagen and Stockholm this Christmas break. Any useful tips on where to go and stay? I am worried everything will be shut!
I also want to train from Copenhagen up to Stockholm but is there any suggested placed to stop enroute?

Some things are closed eg museums but that depends on which one, for example, the Vasa museum is closed 23-25 Dec & NY's Day. Shops will be closed from about the 23rd Dec to 26th Dec but some small supermarkets are open. Some restaurants might be closed between XMas & NY eg michelin star ones usually, apart from that, it is business as usual. If there are particular things you want to see, check their website for opening hours during Christmas. The main celebration for Christmas is on the 24th Dec so it will be very quiet then and the day after, with the afternoon of the 23rd starting to wind down.
I'm in Copenhagen quite often between Xmas and NY and really enjoy that time there. You can drink gløgg (mulled wine) at http://www.hviidsvinstue.dk/en where they make it with red wine and port - it is very strong.
In Copenhagen stay in the city centre (Indre By) and in Stockholm stay in Gamla Stan (Old City).
Be aware that trains can get quite booked up during the holidays, so book in advance. A good place to stop en route is Vadstena, or Lund but these small places won't have much going on so would not bother personally. Their attraction are the old interesting buildings.

I can't speak for Stockholm, but it is not just high-end places that will be closed in Copenhagen.

In Stockholm almost all shops will be closed on the 24th, but department stores like NK will have open until 14:00. On the 25th all shops will be closed.
On the 26th, the sales start and everybody will be out shopping.
Not too sure about restaurants, I know that some restaurants close from the 23rd to the 1st or the 6th but not sure how many. I live in Stockholm but we are never around for Xmas. I think there is a chance lots of restaurants esp. the nicer ones will be closed because so many of us leave town.
The train ride Copenhagen-Stockholm is pretty boring, everything looks the same but it could be interesting for someone coming from another country. Can't think of anywhere you could stop. But maybe the train company will decide for you, Swedish trains are not too reliable when there is a lot of snow!!
