Connection in Zurich : Mission Impossible?

Still researching flights and playing with iteneraries for April trip to Italy. Found a decent flight and price from Boston through Zurich to Venice, Swiss Air all the way with, cough, choke, 45 minutes between fights in Zurich. Is that just nuts? It's is legal...but is it nuts? I'm hoping that one of you will tell me that Swiss Air runs like the clocks that made them famous.

Marcia:

Swiss offers a minimum transfer time requirement of 40 minutesat Zurich airport. They generally make it (at least when I was flying Swiss).

If they offer a connection on their website and your incoming flight fails to make it, they are obliged to put you on the next available flight. In the case of Venice, this means an additional wait of about 3 hours.

Hope this helps. enjoy your trip

Phil.

I'm glad to hear this... we're flying through Zurich on the way home from a trip to Spain (BCN-Zurich-Chicago), and we have an hour and 15 minutes to transfer. I can't tell from the airport map if we're going to have to be bused between terminals, etc., and I'm sure security will take awhile... we'll see what happens!

We had a fairly short 55 minute connection time on Swiss when flying from Rome to Chicago via Zurich and we made it without any problems. It is a little too close for comfort, but if everything runs efficiently hopefully you won't have any problems.

There is no bus between the terminals in Zurich, there is a short train ride between Terminal E and the main airport which you will need to take if you arrive or are departing in Terminal E, but otherwise you can walk between Termianal A and B. Unless you are arriving or departing in Terminal E, sercurity lines are quite short.

You can see the terminal your flights will arrive and depart at by looking at the Zurich airport website at www.zurich-airport.com. The Swiss are very efficient as you can see.

45 minutes can be tight be should be fine, becuase in many case, international flights actually arrive early, 10-15 minutes or so, but that does give you a little cushion. However, intra-Europe flights tend to run late, in my experiense, so Strass will just need to keep an eye on this.,
