Central Station to Victoria Hotel
We are arriving at the Amsterdam Central Station from Paris at around 11:00 PM. How far is the station to Victoria Hotel? If it is walking distance, is it safe to walk at this hour? Thanks!

As you exit the station the Victoria Hotel will be almost directly in front of you on the corner (right-hand side of the Damrak).
Yes it is walkable (really no other choice) and I seriously doubt anyone is going to harm you as you are undoubtedly not going to be the ONLY people emerging from the station at that hour.

You will see it as you exit the main station hall- about 75 yards ahead of you and slightly to the right (as you come off the train, you DON'T want the north exit, but my guess is the main flow of people will tell you which direction to go in).
The area is, as with all city centre main stations, likely to attract a mixture of people - tired shift workers and over merry night-outers on their way home, possibly some fairly unsavoury-looking people at a loose end, but if you just walk purposefully straight ahead I can't see any major problems.
Keep an eye out for trams leaving the stops on your right (don't worry, they'll clang a warning as they start); and you will also have to cross a traffic junction to get into the hotel.
