CDG/ORY/LHR to Biarritz, to fly or take a train?
I am planning a surfing trip to france in late september of 2012. what is the best way to travel, with surfboards, from CDG/ORY/LHR once I get there? I can depart from almost anywhere in the usa east coast.
so far I know this
1) lhr to tgv/chunnel is a cross city train/bus/taxi and slow/expensive
2) cdg isn't on tgv stop, not sure how far/mode?
3) ory isn't on tgv stop, 30-45 mins on 2 buses (please confirm)
4) most us flights to BIQ go through ORY but land CDG, how bad is transfer
my flight options appear long and require a transfer from CDG to ORY (BAD)

I don't understand all of your questions, but you might consider an inbound flight to Madrid or Barcelona, both far closer to Biarritz than Paris (or London!). I realize I'm not addressing your questions, but it's something else to think about.

If it were me I would get one flight to the closest airport and then get a train (or car) from there - rather than trekking through multiple airports with surfboards. Especially low cost airlines are liable to charge a huge amount for something as large as a surfboard.

I don't understand most of your questions, either; your "shorthand" is impossible to untangle. Where are you coming from?
CDG IS on a TGV line. Goes south to Bordeaux.
Biarritz is nearer to many major Spanish cities than French ones.
Sorry, have no idea what your ? is with regard to "easyjey" or Air France.

I will try this again, but first let me say thank you for the 1st round of replies. I am flying from the USA and am going surfing in Biarritz/Hossegor. I can fly from New York, Miami, or anywhere in between. I will be traveling with two surfboards. I would like to confirm that I can get a high-speed train directly from the airport in Paris (either DeGaulle CDG or Orly ORY).
Plan B will be to go in from Spain side.

looks like air france and easy jet are the only carriers who fly there direct and frequently?
i'd like to ride a train to see the country on my way in, and on the way home will fly BIQ-Paris-USA

I just had a look on the easyjet website, they would charge you 30 euros per surf board and you can only carry one per person, flights are pricing around 32 euros one way for September, you'd then have to pay for luggage on top of that, with AF it varies on the size of the surfboard but if you also had luggage you'd have to pay anyway
Someone else already said that CDG is on a TGV line, but i'd still reconsider flying into somewhere nearer to Biarritz

From the East coast, you can fly Iberia either through MAD or BCN to Bilbao. Looks like good connection times.
The kicker is, getting a train from San Sebastian to Biarritz.
It's only about 95 miles, but no train seems to cross the border.
After much investigation, I finally gave up, and rented an auto to drive to Biarritz.
Have cash for the tolls.

thank you for all of the helpful replies. the surfboard fees are just part of the trip cost. I am thinking my best bet is to fly USa to France, and orly/cdg to BIQ and not bother with trains.

Taking luggage on board TGV Lyria
The rules around taking luggage on TGV Lyria services are refreshingly simple. Here’s what you’ll need to know when you pack for your journey:
Each passenger is allowed two bags or suitcases plus their hand luggage
You’ll find luggage racks at the end – and sometimes the middle – of each carriage
There are no charges for oversize luggage
Luggage such as bikes, surfboards and push chairs should be stowed in a special luggage coach – ask a member of staff for help when you board the train.
