Burgundy river/canal cruise

I am sketching out a 2017 trip to Eastern France: Lyon, Burgundy and the Alsace Lorraine. During that trip we'd like to spend 3 or 4 days on a hotel barge/boat cruising small villages in Burgundy. But I'm having a hard time finding such a thing. Googling, I find there are longer trips, most of which start from Paris. Or there are whole boat charters . Neither of these fit our needs. And we don't want to "drive" a barge ourselves.

Can anyone suggest a boat or a company that does shorter cruises?

There are a number of hotel barges operating in Burgundy. Those of which I am familiar offer 7 day trips, possibly 14 day. I have not seen any at only 3 or 4 days. Typically, the more expensive boats have 6 cabins, the less expensive barges have 12 cabins though these numbers can vary. Each cabin accommodates up to 2 people.

We did a WONderful barge trip with French Country Waterways. It was a 6 day trip I think--22 passengers, tours every day, chef prepared meals that were delicious, wine and anything you wanted.

There is an excellent article in today's NYTimes you might be interested in reading, "In France, Impressions of Pissarro on a River Journey"

My husband and I are going to be retired soon and are interested in canal boat rentals of a few months at a time. Any suggestions as to rental companies.

We used Rive de France on the Burgundy canal. But for a few months this may be quite expensive. A lease from a private owner might be less expensive.

Renting from a private owner typically requires your having the required licenses, the Permis Fluvial or equivalent. Here is a list of companies that rent with the need of a license:

I am not sure that Rive de France is still in business.

That should read without the need of a license.
