Budapest to Prague by rail

What's the route you have to take to get from Budapest to Prague via rail?

We purposely went through Vienna. Budapest-Vienna-Prague is an ideal itinerary.

Thanks, but I mean the actual route. As far as I can tell from the Rail Europe site you can't take a train directly from one place to another. My question is what are the actual cities you have to go through to get from one place to the other?

www.bahn.de

Find your train, click on train number, all immediate stops will show.

There are three direct EC (euroCity) trains a day between Prague and Budapest. Raileurope's schedule site sucks - many trains are not listed. In the US i advise calling BETS (800-441-2387) European train info service whereby they will answer any train schedule questions - you can book thru them as well but at Raileurope prices which will be at least a bit higher than in Europe - but if you're the type who wishes to have everything pinned down as regards reservations for a certain train this could be priceless.

the www.bahn.de site rkkwan recommends is to me the best site for schedules all over Europe.

Thanks very much. The www.bahn.de site is much better than the Rail Europe site!
