Blue Badge guides snd London walking tours
Has anyone had experience with using a blue badge guide? I also looked at London walking tours for sightseeing in the city. Do you know anything about them? They are Blue badge certified also.

The company The Original London Walks, is marvellous. they have walking tours geared to every interest that you can imagine. They are not expensive..about 5.50 for adults, with a discount on taking several. The guides are almost always Blue Badge and those that are not are qualified in some special way for the walks they guide. You cannot go wrong. Check their website...I am sorry I don't have it on hand, but do a search for Original London walks and you will come up with it.Have fun.

London Walks is justifiably popular - and since its owner/founder is an American there is a bit of bias towards them on sites w/ lots of American posters.
But Blue Badge guides are the creme. They are members of a certified guild and the program has been around for years. They also have members all over the country and some are driver/guides.
You will do well w/ either London Walks or Blue Badge. They really serve different needs.

I was thinking of doing the London walks in the city area(1.)Because it would save some money and (2)sounded fun. I had stumbled up on their website. It is www.walks.com and the info there is very appealing.
I am considering a blue badge driver guide to show us around areas outside London like Oxford, Stonehenge, etc. I thought being private,we would be able to see more unique things on the way and stop at sights I might not know about. I did want to know if they were well thought of and interesting. I appreciate all info you are sharing on both. I don't think I can do but about 3 days with the private guide(on what I am trying to spend.)

Try the Astral Travels website at www.astraltravels.co.uk as they also have private driver/guides. I'm not sure if they will quote a lower or higher price but it's certainly worth shopping around.
