i'll be in paris with my daughter who will be celebrating her 25th birthday on bastille day - can you recommend a great restaurant for lunch or dinner - we are staying in the louvre area

as ira suggests, you could spend anywhere from 40 to 400 euro per person for dinner, so let's narrow it down a little.
For the really top $$ places known for finest food and ambiance, you get more bang for the buck at lunchtime.
Also, does it have to be in your hotel's area?

I think Le Train Bleu, the beautiful Belle Epoque restaurant in the Gare de Lyon, would be a lovely place. There is a 43 euro prix fixe dinner, and you can reserve online. www.le-train-bleu.com

I had my birthday dinner there last month, and when they found out that is was my b-day, they put a candle in my dessert (and said I could have any dessert I wanted)and treated all 4 of us to an after dinner drink.

You can reach it by either bus or metro (we've taken bus both times I've been there, from the 6th arr.), or, of course, taxi, which is how we've returned to hotel.

I think the food is very good, and the ambiance is super!

yes - it was the first time i posted - and i couldn't figure out how to find my responses - thanks for the help - i think both ambience and food are important - not that i don't have a budget - but i think between 50-75 euros per person would be good - there will be three of us
