Bestest Hotel and Greatest restaurant, near the neatest site in the Grandest City?

Hyperbole anyone? What do you think of these posts where someone asks for the nicest, or the best, etc.? In my opinion, there is rarely a "best" of anything (there is always another point of view). It isn't like hotels or restaurants have a world championship to determine which is the best.

Well, unlike you tee, I guess I'm not so literal. I just assume that on a travel board that is clearly geared for people giving personal opinions, that when someone asks for a recommendation of the "best", they are asking other people for their ideas of what is the "best" they have experienced. I guess that concept is too complex for you to understand. Would you be happier if they said "in your humble opinion which is an acceptable hotel"?

Tee hee stop being critical. That's why there's a forum to discuss what's "best" and "not best".

If you are too stupid to figure out that when someone asks for or states the best of something, that it is merely their opinion, then you don't belong here. In fact, you are too stupid to own a computer.

I agree with Tee Hee; my take on it is that it reflects the sense of entitlement that is so pervasive in our culture today; we need The Best!

I agree with Tee. I think there are some people here that are trying to go to the definitive places so that they can say they've been there. I also think some people really think there is a definitive place. Obviously, if there was a "best" or the "greatest", there would only be one response. I much prefer the "what is your favorite ________" or what do you think is the best ________" (not "what is the best __________&quot.

Yes, bragging, you make a lot of sense. It is much better to ask "what is your opinion of the best" instead of "what is the best", because most people here are apparently too stupid to figure out that the answer would only be an opinion anyway.
