best way to tavel from Florence to Siena

I was wondering the best way to travel to Siena from Florence for a day trip. Would it be better/easier to go by train or by bus? Thanks for your help.

You can do either from the main rail station in Florence. I took the train there and the bus back. I think the bus was faster, train made stops. Plus it drops you in town as opposed to the train which is although not far outside the city walls if Siena old town.

The train is easier. However, I'm pretty sure that one of the Florence - Sienna buses goes through the countryside rather than on a main highway. My family took it by mistake, and wound up loving it.

peggaroni,
The bus is easier. See http://www.sitabus.it/sita-toscana/Firenze-Siena07.pdf
The bus is faster because the train goes through Empoli which is not on the way.

The train and bus station are next to each other in Florence but in Siena the train station is a couple kilometers from the center. The bus from Florence will drop you at Piazza Gramsci which is at the top of the town.

The bus. It is faster, more direct, cost less and leaves you just outside of the walls. If you take the train and are carrying luggage, you will most likely want a taxi or bus to the center.
