Best transport option from LHR to Moreton-in-Marsh

I'll be traveling from Heathrow to Moreton-in-Marsh where I'll be staying for 4 nights before ending my trip with 7 nights in London. The last time I did this, I took the Heathrow Connect to London Paddington, then the train to M-I-M. I'm wondering if it would be easier to take the bus directly from LHR to Oxford, then get the train to M-I-M.

I thought it would be less expensive to go to Paddington first and get a return ticket from there (since I would be returning to London after 4 nights in the Cotswolds) but am wondering if thinking is accurate.

Thanks for your help.........

No. The airport bus doesn't stop at the railway station, and with luggage the 10 min walk can be a nuisance. Though there are lots of city buses, most going in that direction require a messy crossing of a busy road to get to the station.

The two options - roughly similar in time elapsed - are the LHR Connect or Express to Paddington, or the bus to Reading station where the same MiM train arrives about 30 mins after leaving Paddington.

Check the price and times of the two options at he nationalrail site (there's no point in advance booking on this route: a tickert to MiM bought for travelling in 12 weeks' time costs the same as one bought a minute before the train leaves) And check whether the train's running when you're travelling: trains to MiM are intermittently disrupted this summer, and you may have to change onto a bus at Oxford railway station. That bus DOESN'T stop at the bus station, or anywhere else the airport bus stops.

Thanks, flanneruk. I'll probably just stick to the plan I used the last visit...Heathrow Connect to Paddington, then on to M-I-M which worked fine before.

If you don't mind another question:
I also plan to take a day trip to Oxford from M-I-M. Do you know if it would be easier to take the train or do local busses travel from M-I-M? I'm not that concerned with the time involved since I'm just planning on relaxing and wandering around and think I might enjoy the bus ride. Plus, I think the bus station would be closer to the city center than the train station. Am I right on that one?

No buses between MiM and Oxford, except during the weeks the train service is suspended. And then it's a nonstop, one-decker, bus along a prettyish but far from overwhelming road with little more than the bit through Woodstock of any real scenic interest.

It usually even avoids driving through Oxford, so you'd have the joys of Oxford's strip malls to contemplate, rather than the dreaming spires.
