Best time to go to Accademia & Uffizi without advance ticket/reservation?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me when is the best time (morning or afternoon) to go to Accademia & Uffizi if I do not purchase the advance tickets? Thanks.

I would say late afternoon. The Uffizi closes very late (for a museum), so I would figure how much time you need and back up from closing. My thinking is around 4:30 - 5 would be fairly safe as I think it closes around 7. We got in around 3 ish (in June ) had had a 10 minute wait in line.

Another option would be to get there about 20-30 before it opens. Although you are of course waiting that 20-30 minutes, you would know you are going to get in. I've done this a few times. The line started before the museums opened, but we had no issues getting right in when it opened.

Afternoon for the Accademia and have exact cash for the tickets. Last time I was there, they had two lines, one for cash (very little wait) and one for credit cards. We only waited a few minutes in mid-June.

My husband and I are going to be in Florence December 1st and we'd like to go to the Accademia and the Uffizi Gallery, could we just show up and not buy the advance tickets for that date?

When I went to both museums several years ago, I didn't have reservations and just joined the line starting to form about 30-45 minutes before opening.
