Best place to stay in Bellagio, Italy?
Other than the five-star Villa Serabollini? Needs action/pool for teenagers and air conditioning for husband (it will be August). And aesthetic appeal for me. Would very much appreciate feedback.

I think if it has to be Bellagio and it has to have A/C and a pool then the Belvedere is as far as you need to look.
It is somewhat less "formal" than the Villa S although only slightly removed from the main area of the town and with the usual stunning views across the lake.
Simply be prepared to go up and down some steps.

Another option to consider with air conditioning is the Hotel du Lac across the street from the lakefront (there's also a Hotel du Lac in Varenna so be careful when looking at reviews and websites). While there's no pool on premises of the hotel, you have free access via a hotel shuttle to their Sporting Club which has a pool.
Sorry I can't compare the two as I've only stayed at the Du Lac. As far as aesthetics, well I didn't find the Du Lac particularly charming, although we stayed in a non-renovated room and I believe those that have been updated may be better (my stay was several years ago). Prices then were cheaper than Belvedere and I definitely prefer staying waterfront but from comparing the websites I'd guess the Belvedere is probably nicer. Also, if you go with the Belvedere, be sure when booking that your room will have a/c as I believe not all of them do.

Two hotels in Menaggio with pools, Grand Hotel Menaggio on one end of town, near the ferry stop, the other is Grand Hotel Victoria on the other end of town. Pool at GHMenaggio is directly next to the water as is the hotel Pool at GH Victoria is in the garden behind the hotel which is also across the street from the lake. Both are of approximatly equal value/price Victoria may have a bit more old world grandeur and somewhat better service. GHMenaggio is somewhat more modern, though not markedly so. Both are wonderful hotels.
