best luxury rental in rome for one week
Hi,
I have perused past postings on this site and gleaned that the best places to stay are historic centre (piazza navona, campo di fiore, pantheon, spanish steps. I am planning a trip for my best friend to Rome in mid June this year. It is for a family of four, 2 kids age 14 and 16 and 2 adults. We would like a very stylish luxurious 2 bedroom, 2 bath place and think we will get the most bang for the buck with a private home or apartment. Our budget is about $3000 for one week. Does anyone have any leads? I have looked at vrbo which has slim pickins for Rome as well as sleepinitaly and rentalsinrome. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, you can get a very nice place for that $$ -- but certainly not the "best luxury rental".
Here is a very nice one not far from Campo De' Fiori, but a bit over your budget. http://www.vrbo.com/135907

I don't think $3000 (approx 2000&euro will buy luxury for a week in Rome, especially not in June. I think luxury will run about 400-500€ (about $600-$750) daily. You can get an apartment for that price (although it's a bit late to be booking for June), but it will be just an average apartment, not luxury.
Try www.slowtrav.com or maybe www.venere.com

I think the beds are generally excellent at all the vacanza bella properties or he won't represent them.

ncounty - not sure you can get a luxury rental as other have stated in Rome for a week for 3,000.00. jmo. I stayed in a two bedroom, two bath by the Spanish Steps - it was not easy to find. I took my two children ages 10 and 13 at time of travel.
It was our least favorite "lodging" of our trip. It was about 300 Euros a night - which is about 440.00 dollars a night.

Try http://www.romanreference.com/.
You can put in your dates, number of people and budget and see whether it comes up with a stylish, luxurious 2BA/2BR for about 2000 Euro.

Thanks so much everyone for your input. I had researched Paris under these same conditions and found some gorgeous places; don't know if they are available yet or not but very high end stylish for about $3000 for the week. We are looking to pay about $350/day. Rome, on the other hand, seems to be extremely expensive and style challenged! Even looking at much higher prices, I couldn't find suitable lodging. I will check out your suggestions as well....thanks. p.s.: an example of the caliber in Paris, check out parisianflats.com.

I rented it through RentVillas.com
Let me see if I can find the link. It was our favorite. I see your children are a little older then ours so it might not work - also I do not think I would stay in Florence as much as I loved it for 7 nights.
I believe we did three or four nights... and it was fine.
I liked Rentvillas because I dealt with a woman here in the states and was able to pay with my credit card. It was a very easy transaction.
