we will only have sunday free after weekend wedding from fri-sat pm. in brussels.
would like to visit somewhere not too far away.(could hire a car if recommended).
brugges comes to mind, but if there are any other recommendable options for such a short time, please note.

I cannot think of another place but Brugge. So many other towns would be shuttered on a Sunday, but Brugge caters to tourists, so it would still be hopping.

There being no objections you are off to Brugge. Excellent choice. Get an early start even if your head is still in a grog. Take the train. One hour.

Or, if you feel like you need fresh air, go to Knokke, rent bicycles, cycle along the coast, have a great lunch somewhere.
