I looked at Zeiss and Swarokski (sp?) they are more than I think I want to spend at the moment.
There seem to be several ultra light "traveller" binocs out there, Nikon, Bushnell, names even I have heard of. Problem is I don't know much about them.
I just know that every time we go on a trip we wish we had brought along some binoculars!

Hmmm Zeiss does look good even if more $$
Lightweight, small size and quality # 1 priorities.
Some of these are AMAZING, they fold up and fit in your pocket! ( not good for me, I would sit on them!)

Do you just want to look at distant scenery and wildlife? "Best" for me are binoculars of reasonable cost that if I lose, drop or forget somewhere I won't want to kill myself.
My husband has Nikon 9x25 5.6 degrees. I have Pentax 10x20 5.0 degrees. The Nikon is better for distance. The Pentax is great for church ceilings, is very light-weight and fits into a coat pocket.
If you have a sports equipment store nearby, I'd test a few, compare weights and prices.

Jean ~ I would use them for distant wildlife and scenery, not for church ceilings.
We live in a wooded area with many birds so we might also use them here at home instead of the big hunky hulky ones we have.
I emailed the url to myself ( always do this) for several binoculars, Nikon and Zeiss included, at binoculars.com. I'll have to do a search on the site tomorrow to see how reputable they are. I buy antiques on eBay, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable buying binoculars there.
