Berlin Hotels - Melia or Mercure Checkpoint Charlie
3 Berlin days coming up in late May. 180 euros more (total) to stay in the Melia. Melia would be a 'level room' with bkfst and tapis snacks. Seems to be worth it. Thoughts? Thanks!

I stayed at the Maritim Proarte Hotel a couple of weeks ago (via Priceline) in Berlin, very close to the Melia, on Friedrichstrasse, and the location is excellent: easy walk to the main attractions of Berlin, close to public transit, etc. Checkpoint Charlie wouldn't be a bad location either, even closer to the former Nazi sites like Topography of Terror and also near U-bahn stops. Otherwise, I'd look at the Tripadvisor reviews.

The hotel is on a relatively busy street. Some more expensive rooms are facing the river ( a side street)
I like to sleep with the open window, so courtyard has been perfect for me. RealLy quiet!
Not sure what" level room" is.
I also prefer higher floors ( in any hotel).

What is the difference in price between level floor room and regular room?
There are many places to get breakfast on the Friedrichstraße for a few €.
I can remember paying $45 a night for a room at the Melia back in 2007.
