Barcelona to Florence travel

Will be ending cruise in Barcelona and staying for a couple days. Then travel to Florence. Any suggestions of "have to see" in Barcelona, as well as recommended airlines to Florence would be appreciated!

whcihbudget.com for inexpensive airlines. Florence, Pisa, and even Bologna have airports worth considering to reach Florence.

If you are typical cruise pax wth tons of luggage, then budget airlines are not for you. Their luggage allowances are puny. Observe the strict luggage rules to the letter.

If you travel light, you can fly direct with Meridiana to Florence, or with two-hoppers to Pisa with Ryanair or Vueling or Spanair.

Alitalia also flies you to Pisa with two-hoppers - it's a full-fare airline so rules are more generous.

Pisa airport has its own train station, it's only a bit over an hour to Florence, hardly longer than getting in from Florence airport. Pisa has more flights than Florence.

Also try Bologna airport.

Look at www.skyscanner.com or at www.whichbudget.com or at www.etn.nl/lcosteur.htm

Hello!

I have lived in Florence in the past and i am currently residing in Barcelona. The closest airport to Florence would be Pisa, you can find cheap flight from Bcn to Pisa and then hop on the train to Florence. Both cities are beautiful yet very different. Florence is like an extravagant historic painting full of rich history and art whereas Barcelona is more colorful and the nightlife here never ends! I recommend you see Guadi's marvelous art work scattered through out the city, take the tourist bus you can hop on and off at all the major sights the bus passes through. Moreover, you can tour Downtown Barcelona by foot down the famous Las ramblas and into the Gothic quarter built in the medieval period. Also dont forget el raval and el born right near the gothic where you can enjoy some Spanish tapas and cocktails.

As for Florence, i do not know where to start. The city is small and very provincial so you can see it all by foot. I heard they have a tramway now it must be new because when i was there they didn't have any means of transportation except for buses and taxis. However, you wont be using it anyhow everything is within walking distance. Dont forget to pass the Ponte Vechio bridge passing by plaza senioria and republica! such wonderful sights.

Enjoy your memorable trip!
