Avis office on Rome???

I will be driving an Avis rental car from Siena to Rome and would reaaly like to know which Avis office is more convenient for a return as I understand there is more than one. I am renting through AutoEurope but before I call them, I want to know what exactly I'm talking about.I am staying at the Intercontinental, next to the Hassler at the top of the Spanish steps. I understand there's an office near the train station as well as others that may be closer to my hotel. Can someone suggest an optimal game plan??

Lisa,

I also rented through AutoEurope and returned to Rome last year. Actually, I don't know where the return office is - but what I would recommend (particularly since Rome can be quite a driving experience) find an empty cab, give him the address of the return office, and follow the cab to the office. You can then take the cab to your hotel.

Dona

Just came back from Italy a few days ago. Spent Easter week in Rome, Florence, Venice and Sicily. We rented a car from Avis also and picked it up by the train station. We stayed at a small hotel called "Hotel Miami" on Via Nazionale and could walk to the train station, the Colliseum, and the Roman Forum and Trevi Fountain. Picking up at the train station is fine. I wouldn't pick it up there at night though because the area is a little shady. But during the day was fine. My husband and I both walked there. It is inside the train station. Once you are inside just follow the sides for auto rental and look for Avis. We rented a Mini van which was a brand new car - turned out great for us because we have 3 kids and they slept along the way. Gas wasn't as bad as I thought. Our car "Ulysses" minivan took diesel - but it only cost us $50 to drive from ROme to Venice. approx 2 45 min to FLorence and same to Venice. The autostrada is easy to follow. and avis will give you a map. It's a straight run on A1 to Florence but you change off for Venice. Bring tapes with you or a car adaptor for a cd player. It makes the drive easier if you want to listen to your favorite music.
Write me if you have any questions:

I'd be glad to answer them for you
E-Mail: [email protected]
Has anyone dropped their car off at the Avis office in the Via Veneto area? Where is it?
