I have found hand painted pottery to be a good deal in Slovakia. I bought several rustic mugs for just a few dollars each, which made great gifts.
As for Vienna, I lived there for four months and I love to shop, but can't honestly say I remember anything great in particular to buy. Smaller items like scarves and shawls are nice purchases.

Even Swiss chocolates cost a fortune if you buy them in a fancy shop. On the advise of my friend who lives there, we went to the Migro (grocery store) and bought big family size bags of small wrapped bars.
Hankies with lace or Swiss motif are nice and can be bought 3 for 20CHF, for example.
Swiss Arms knives, corkscrews and the like.

In Bratislava go to the U Luv stores (a couple of them in the old town) for beautiful pottery and other nice items. Your money will go much farther in Slovakia than in the other two countries. Decorated Easter eggs are very nice in Slovakia also.

In addition to all of the chocolates I brought home from my last trip to Austria, I also bought some mini-bottles of Mozart Chocolate Liqueur that can be found all over Salzburg. They seemed to be a hit. I also liked the handmade linens from Austria - very easy to pack. Christmas ornaments are another idea.
