Are advance reservations needed for Neuschwanstein in mid-December?

We are traveling with 6 adults. Do you think we need advance ticket reservations for Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau and Linderhof for a weekday in mid-December? My "ideal" scenario is to get into the first two castles when they open that morning and then drive the approx. 45 minutes to Linderhof that afternoon.

Unlikely that you need advance tickets. I was told by my sister this morning that the Bavaria alps, at 500m in the valley, have about 1/2m snow and ikt was still snowing. That might be more of a problem than tickets. You might want to check ahead as to what's open.

was not aware of any advance tickets....

the only time we went to Neu. in the winter we asked before leaving munich if there would be a chance of snow and were told no....by the time we got there it had snowed about 6 inches...it is magnificent in the snow....we were taken up the back road to the castle in a large sleigh which we got in the parking lot below...very few people there in the snow as well...

If you want to be the first to get in you will beat just about all the buses so it should not be a problem. Just buy the tickets when you get there. I was there in Sept. and I got tickets for an hour later. Did the bridge first anyway. You can get tickets to both castles at the same time. I think they open at 8, but I'm not sure.
