When are you traveling? I'm in the process of booking an apartment recommended by someone on Fodor's. They stated they plan their trips around availability of these apartments, but I imagine I'm staying in one smaller than they had. I will be traveling in a couple of weeks. What's your budget?

We will be staying in this apartment in September. It is reasonably priced, in an excellent location and as we have viewed the apt. previously we can recommend it.

If you find an airfare deal and decide to go, this is the apartments I've booked.

I based my decision on Tedgale's trip report. If you aren't familiar with his reports, click on his screen name to read others, but here is the one about these apartments.

If you were looking at flights in/out of Florence, they typically are more expensive. Try Pisa (can be seasonal Delta out of NY), Rome or Milan. All are within easy train/bus rides to Florence. You can book discount train tickets in advance.
