I'll be in Paris for my fourth time next year..decided to tack it onto my two week trip to the UK.

I've never rented an apartment anywhere before, but one site I was looking at is www.parisattitude.com. Any word on them? They have several apartments very reasonably priced (390 EUR for a week). I'm one person so a studio is fine, and i really don't mind sleeping on a murphy bed or sofa bed. My only real requirements are Cable TV, smoking allowed, preferably a DVD player and stereo as well, with linens provided, as well as pots and pans for the kitchen..is this asking too much? Also, I need to be in Montmartre (convention going on, plus I like the area)

Trying to keep it under 600 EUR for the week..

anyone want to throw any tips at me? I'm going to search some threads on fodors..

used Paris Attitude last spring & was very happy. Nice apt, professional people. Terms seemed standard.

I don't think you're asking too much – we wanted more, including a large apt for our large group and a washer dryer.

We had the bd de Magenta/Canal St Martin apt.

My first trip to Paris, going with my boyfriend, for 5 days in July.

I'm thinking of booking an apartment at Boulevard Magenta, in place de la Republique. Is the area that bad? I have another offer at MOntorgeuil, but the apartment is a bit more expensive and not so nice.

I posted as well about this last week. The person that I spoke with there (well emailed) was very nice and everything seemed good, but myself I am not that comfortable wiring money and paying 2 different people etc. (you have to pay an agents fee although built into the price and seperatly pay the person whose actually renting the apartment)I also found (my only negative) that they were a little pushy about booking right now/this minute before it's gone!!!
I decided (in the end) to go with perfectlyparis.com and found an amazing apartment (Montmartre is what they specialize in). I would also suggest VRBO.com I found my London apartment there.

Yes. I used ParisAttitude last summer for a studio in the Fifth. It worked out great. They did the deposit with credit card, and I paid the balance on arrival to the owner in cash. I had no issues.

I'm pretty sure they have a lot at montmartre near So-Pi although 600 Euro for a week is a little basic to get a private apartment, methinks.

Olga - sorry that I didn't see this till now! I didn't find the area bad at all. It was off the beaten track, but it wasn't very touristy (silly to say, since we were tourists). And, the Canal St Martin is very hip and trendy now a days.

I actually switched to a studio by Notre Dame on Ile de la Cite. Looks much more convenient to most sights.

What do you think of that location?

I am in the process of renting thru Paris Attitude right now. I've paid the agency fee by credit card, and I'm waiting for the rental contract to be emailed to me from the owner.

The only thing I didn't like was that the security deposit is equal to the amount of the rental, which in my case is one month so quite a chunk. But, I want this apt. really bad because of its location near Place St Georges, wi-fi, washer/dryer and A/C, so I was willing to pay the big deposit.

Did you try to negotiate a different security deposit? It seems logical that if they also rent by the week and the normal security deposit would be one week's rental, they should offer than same security deposit to you for a longer rental. But I realize logic isn't always the answer.

Olga - that is a more convenient location. Personally, I prefer out of the way areas; my son spent a lot of time on the balcony just watching the street traffic - Bd de Magenta, there was quite a bit. We were off the beaten tourist path, and that was what we wanted.

I'm sure for future visits I will also prefer to be outside the tourist route, but for this first time, I'd rather not waste too much time and effort on transportation and enjoy walking to most places.

when studying abroad in paris, my parents looked into booking an apartment with parisattitude, but in the end found parisianhome.com to be more personal and offered nicer apartments in key locations... just a little tip from an american girl who lived in paris for 9 months... my parents stayed in this one http://www.parisianhome.com/en/apart...3&start=2# had a great time, and plan on renting again with them after i graduate. Good luck with finding the perfect place to stay in paris!

How many of these advertisements are you going to post, Virginia? At least if you do so, get all your stories straight -- you are getting mixed up. I especially liked your post on 2/26/07 that said you were currently studying in Paris, and then just two days later you said it was "last year" when you studied there. Time must really fly when you're having fun, huh?

Would definitely recommend it. It might be a little bit small for 4. We were 3 and it was fine. Very nice, no noise. The windows looked out onto a little quiet courtyard.
The owner was very friendly and spoke quite good english for a "frog" ...haha
