There are at least ten dead from the explosion and gunfire, according to the BBC.

Thanks for the link. I went through 3-4 security checks during a recent trip to/from JFK. Truly an international airport with tremendous diversity of passengers and destinations. Popular hub airport for cruise passengers. I was very leery of taking a Turkish Airlines flight, but was truly impressed by their service and planes.
There we go again...

Thanks !
Next week going to Berlin... Anxiety is not helping, when we take a car we know we risk to die in crash, now we know we risk to die blasted in an airport or anywhere in the street for that matter.

I think they are dead but as in the Orlando shooting we never counted the killer in the toll. Most radio people will not even say his name. Whathello, leave plenty early, surprised you can get a flight out so quick in Turkey at all.

Very sad as it's a beautiful country and the people are kind-especially outside Istanbul. It's very East meets West, European feeling but with the mosques, calls to prayers and many Middle Eastern tourists in their burkas.
Sadly today won't hurt Turkey's leaders but the innocent folks making a living from tourism. Glad we went when we did.

Flying into Brussels next month on our way to Krakow. At this point, it is what it is. I refused to give up and give in to fears fueled by a bunch of righteous barbarians.
Istanbul Airport- Ataturk is up and running again amidst the debris-- that's what I call resilience. Bravo Turkey!

It is interesting on these boards that death and destruction in Turkey hardly gets a mention, while the horrors in Paris, London, and Brussels, go one for days with hundreds of lamentations.
Prejudice or complacency?

imdonehere, how do you think I felt when no condolences of Orlando were mentioned? I was impacted by this and nothing from our European Friends except a snide remark in another post. I didn't bring it up thinking surely someone would offer a simple I am sorry. Is it complacency or just dislike of the USA, I was not sure. I checked the USA boards and nothing. We are still in shock here. I just finished reading pages of news and watched CNN for a while last night. It is horrible the innocent life tht they took. Seems the first gun man distracted security and the other two came in very easy and blew up themselves.
