Another request for honeymoon help
We are heading to Italy, flying from Boston to Florence on 9/24 arriving on the 25th, and leaving from Naples on 10/7. That's all we know for sure. Yes, I know--we are way behind...yikes.
We will have money for mid to high-end accomodations, dining, etc. We are planning to have a rental car, at least for part of the time. We want to focus primarily on Florence and the Amalfi Coast, with a brief stopover in Rome in between the two. Art and wine are high on our list.
We definitely have some thoughts, but would love to hear from others about how they would shape this trip.
I should add that I have been to Italy several times, but never to the Amalfi coast and my fiance has never been.
Thanks very much in advance.

My suggestion would be:
4 nights Florence
2 nights San Gigmignano or Siena Area
2 nights Rome
4 nights Amalfi Coast with base in Positano.
If you give an idea of what your comfort level is with hotels, I can make suggestions. You say high end but that could mean $800 a night

Don;t k now what you plan on doing in the AC - but Oct is kind of cold for the beach.
Assuming you want to see Pompeii and the Naples Archeological Museum I would stay in Sorrento instead. This way you can do Naples and Pompeii and the whole Amalfi Coast by car (traffic isn;t that bad in Oct) and take the hydro to Capril
Reco staying the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. It's right in the center of Sorrento but quiet and secluded because of the large private gardens (gorgeous). It has terraces - and some rooms have balconies - facing out onto the Bay of Naples with exquisite views and there is a private elevator down to the pier. Also - the private parking is handy.

We stayed at a wonderful (and romantic) hotel in Florence called the Hotel Davanzati.... We selected it based on tripadvisor reviews and it was great. I would highly recommend.
In Sorrento, we stayed at the Hilton. It was really, really nice. It is a bit "above" Sorrento (ie. a 10 minute walk to center of town) but found it was not a bad walk and really loved that area.
Congrats on your marriage and good luck!

Hi ST,
You are honeymooning in Italy and leaving out Venice?
I suggest 4 nights in Florence with a daytrip to Siena.
4 nights in Rome with a daytrip to Orvieto.
4 nights in Positano with a daytrip to Capri.
I also suggest (since it is your honeymoon) hiring a driver for transfers between Naples and the AC.
I wouldn't bother with a car.

We'll be on our honeymoon in Italy at the same time with similar plans. We are arriving a couple days earlier in Venice and had to fly out of Rome instead of Naples (although I can't remember why now).
Anyway, we arrive in Tuscany on the 24th, staying at an agriturismo south of Siena. We'll be there for 4 nights. Then 2 nights in Florence. We didn't want to daytrip Tuscany or Florence, so that's why we are staying in both (wanted to enjoy the evenings).
Because of our flights, we decided to go to the Amalfi Coast next instead of Rome (which would have been slightly easier travel-wise). We'll be staying at a small hotel/B&B called Villa Rosa in Positano for 4 nights.
Then on to Rome for 3 nights before flying out on the 7th.
I posted the details of my itinerary in this thread. I would suggest that you book hotels ASAP. We found in March that many of our first choices were already booked.

Thanks so much, everyone, and Rex, I did repost with a more specific title--thanks for the tip. I'm sure these requests get really repetitive for those who frequent these forums! Thanks again.
